John Bird played football, basketball, & baseball during his career at Central Columbia. He was a starter in football three years, basketball two years, & baseball all four years. During John's junior year he was the Susquehanna Valley League MVP and 1st team All Anthracite QB. He threw for 1,996 yards, rushed for 668 yards, had 16 TD passes, rushed for 17 TD's, and scored 116 points. During his senior year he was the 1st team Susquehanna Valley League and 2nd team All Anthracite QB, along with being All State honorable mention. During his senior year the football team had seven wins, the most in school history at that time.

In basketball John started both his junior & senior year. During his senior year the team won the District IV championship and had 21 wins, the most in school history at that time. In baseball John he led the team in hitting & stolen bases during his senior year and the team won the Columbia County League Championship.

John went to North Carolina State on a full scholarship in football. He then transferred to Susquehanna University, and started three years periodically, due to injuries. John graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in Psychology, received his masters from Penn State in Psychosocial Social Sciences and completed his post graduate training in Gestalt Therapy. John is currently a regional Administrator for White Deer Run Addiction Treatment Center in Allenwood and Williamsport, PA. He currently lives in Lewisburg, PA with his wife, Svetlana, and family. They have four children.
