1957 and 1958 Baseball Team
The 1957 and 1958 Baseball Teams captured the Columbia County League Championships which was a first for a Central Columbia Athletic Team. These teams established the attitude and motivation that still exists today in Central Columbia Athletics. Members of this team were Herbert Lupini, Boyd Hippenstiel, Edwin Knecht, Fred Carpenter, Frank Carpenter, Fred Stout, Gerald Schneider, Gordon Thomas, James Devlin, James Karns, Larry Wenner, Leroy Kramer, Lonnie Labour, Clark Whitenight, Max Lupini, Roy Snyder, Corvin Seltzer, Terry Payne, William Bitler, Donald Ivey, Fred Conner, Tom Piefer and William Mericle, The 1957 and 1958 Baseball Teams were coached by Head Coach Buddy Hartman and his assistant the late Clair “Ted” Mensinger. These teams were comprised of many multiple sport athletes that excelled at each sport they participated in here at Central Columbia.
