Course Descriptions

Accounting 1:  Money talks, and accounting is the language of business. Unlock its mystery and you become not only business-savvy, but also the go-to person for understanding both corporate and personal finance. The course is designed to give students a general knowledge of accounting in preparation for college or for further education in the field of business. Students may use accounting for any pathway to complete their 1.0 credit as an elective course.

Advanced Accounting:  Accounting II will be an in-depth study of financial management, financial records, personal business affairs and economic activities in the business world. Any student planning to major in business and/or accounting is strongly recommended to enroll in this class. Students seeking employment immediately after high school will be more qualified for entry-level accounting jobs.

Automated Accounting: Automated Accounting will be an in-depth study of financial management, financial records, personal business affairs and economic activities in the business world using electronic accounting software. Students seeking employment immediately after high school will be more qualified for entry-level accounting jobs and students pursuing accounting or business administration for a college major will be better prepared to succeed in a college setting.

Futures 2:  Futures II is designed to introduce students to the skills needed to make effective financial and consumer related decisions. Students will learn how to manage a paycheck; how to effectively use the banking system; how to make decisions about insurance; and how to manage home and automobile expenses. Materials will be supplemented to include various business topics including personal budgeting, taxes, business communications and current ethical business practices.
