Rationale and Course Description: The purpose of this course is to enhance the student’s knowledge, attitude, behavior, and beliefs to lead a healthy lifestyle. Students will develop health literacy skills to improve personal and community health. Health literacy skills include: comprehending concepts, analyzing influences, accessing resources, interpersonal communication, decision making, goal setting, practicing health-enhancing behaviors, and advocacy. The course may include, but is not limited to, the following lessons/units:
- Personal Health and Wellness
- Mental and Emotional Health
- Nutrition and Eating Disorders
- Disease Prevention and Treatment
*This health course is guided by the National Health Education Standards and Pennsylvania State Standards for Health, Safety, and Physical Education.
This course may utilize the following apps: NearPod, Canva, PicCollage, Padlet, Google Docs, Google Slides, Cronometer, GoFormative
