Welcome to Street Law!  This class is intended to expose you to the more practical ways in which our civil laws may affect your everyday life.  Through this class, you will gain knowledge of the common problems of civil laws you may encounter, develop skills for analyzing these problems and explore possible strategies for resolving and/or preventing such problems. The topics will we cover include the following:

1. 1.  Introduction to law (What is law, why have laws, when do you need a lawyer, basics of U.S. court/trial system)
2. 2.  Tort Law (Law suits/civil actions)
3. 3.  Consumer Law/Housing Law (Contracts/warranties/credit cards/identity theft/renting/buying home/car)
4. 4.  Family Law (marriage/divorce/wills/power of attorney)
