About Mr. Karnes

Mr. Karnes is a 2003 graduate of Central Columbia High School. After graduation, Mr. Karnes attended Bloomsburg University and earned degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education.  Upon graduation, his first year teaching was the 2007-08 school year at Bloomsburg Middle School (the rivals!).  For the start of the 2009-10 school, Mr. Karnes obtained a position at his alma mater, as the gifted support teacher in the middle school at Central Columbia.  He then spent four years in that position before transferring to the high school as a learning support teacher.  The start of the 2022-23 school year is Mr. Karnes' 16th year in education.  He also serves as our high school's transition coordinator.

Mr. Karnes and his wife, Amy, reside in Mount Pleasant Township.  Together, they have four daughters (Brynn, Elyse, Teagan, and Paige).  They are all actively involved in various sports and activities.

Outside of school, Mr. Karnes enjoys sports of all types.  He spent several years coaching high school baseball and football.  He now volunteers as a little league softball coach and is also an assistant junior high softball coach.  In his free time, Mr. Karnes also enjoys hunting, fishing, working at his family's hardware store, and helping his in-laws on the family farm.
