Blue Jay Blends Est. May of 2009

 

Many of you may not be aware of something very special that exists at Central Columbia High School.  In May of 2009, the life skills students opened a coffee shop called Blue Jay Blends.  Our objectives were to establish a work place environment where ourstudents were responsible for the day-to-day operations of a coffee shop. Students developed basic job skills that are used in any workplace. For our special education students this is the most relevant and real world curriculum we can give them.

 

With the help and support of Mr. Groshek, our principal, we were able to acquire a space to run our shop just outside of thecafeteria.  This was a major key to our success because we wanted our students .to interact and service the staff and students of Central Columbia High School on a daily basis.  Blue Jay Blends has made our students a visible and important part of our high school community.  Our endeavor has been an extremely successful and we are now entering our fifth year of serving hot beverages to the staff and students of Central Columbia High School.  

 

Blue Jay Blends operates daily M-F from 6:30-8:10 AM.  We offer regular coffee, decaf coffee, teas of various kinds and hot chocolate, with or without whipped cream.  At the bargain price of $1.00 for a 12 oz. cup you can’t beat this deal. .Stop by any day to see this amazing little shop running very smoothly under the watchful eyes of the life skills staff.  Enjoy a cup of your favorite beverage and check out the Blue Jay Blends signature items for sale.  The coffee shop offers T-Shirts, travel mugs, pens and gift certificates.
