Central Columbia Agricultural Science Program Active During FFA Week

On Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019; members of the Central Columbia Occupational Advisory Committee, Agricultural/Environmental Science Instructors, Chapter FFA President and Assistant High School Principal met to discuss the Agricultural Science curriculum in regards to NOCTI EXAM requirements, Chapter 339 requirement and our local requirements. Members meet twice a year for total program evaluation. One meeting is during National FFA Week.

The program then travelled to the southern part of the county at Ponduce Farms on Wednesday, February 20, 2019; to present information on pesticide education at the 2019 Columbia County Agricultural Conference hosted by the Columbia County Conservation District. Mr. Doug Brown presented two workshops to local producers about the importance of pesticide labels, the impact of water quality on pesticide effectiveness and the importance of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applying pesticides.
