Environmental Science Dissects Mussels

During the Week of November 11, 2019; students enrolled in the Environmental Science class at Central Columbia were provided the opportunity during the aquatics section of the course to investigate, observe and learn more about crayfish and mussels. Many different types of muscles and other mollusks exist in Pennsylvania and are important to our water quality. This week students dissected different types of mussels to determine body parts and to examine the purpose of each part.
